Doha: Cricket enthusiasts in Qatar are gearing up for the much-awaited Karnataka Rajatha Cup (KRC), which will kick off on October 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Qatar Foundation Cricket Ground. The four-day tournament, organised by Karnataka Sangha Qatar and Karnataka Royals Qatar, will run till October 17, forming a major highlight of the Silver Jubilee Year celebrations of Karnataka Sangha Qatar.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for October 14 at 7:00 p.m., will be inaugurated by E.P. Abdurahiman, President of the Indian Sports Center (ISC), as the Chief Guest. Hariprashanth M.G., well-known for his role in Kantara Chapter 1, will join the ceremony as Guest of Honour.
The tournament will showcase top cricketing talent from the Karnataka community in Qatar, beginning with an exciting curtain-raiser match between Best of India and Best of Karnataka.
The grand finale and closing ceremony, to be held on October 17 (Friday evening), will feature former Indian cricketer Vijay Bharadwaj and Sandalwood director Harsha as the Special Guests of Honour. The final day will also include a special exhibition match between Indian Embassy XI and KRC Organising Committee XI, adding a celebratory finish to the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ravi Shetty, President of Karnataka Sangha Qatar, said, “KRC is not just about cricket—it’s about celebrating Karnataka’s spirit, sportsmanship, and unity. We welcome everyone to join us for four exciting days of action and togetherness.”
As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, 25 distinguished individuals will be honoured with the ‘Kreeda Rathna’ and ‘Kreeda Poshaka Rathna’ awards for their exceptional contributions to cricket and sports promotion.
With star guests, spirited competition, and cultural camaraderie, the Karnataka Rajatha Cup promises to be a grand celebration of cricket and community for Karnataka’s diaspora in Qatar.
