Jeddah: Saudi Arabia and India have signed the Hajj 2025 agreement, marking a key step in strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing the pilgrimage experience for Indian Hajis.
The agreement was signed in Jeddah by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq F. Al-Rabiah, and India’s Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju. The signing ceremony was attended by Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, and Consul General of India in Jeddah, Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri.

Under the agreement, Saudi Arabia has allocated a quota of 175,025 Indian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj season. Of this, 70% will be managed by the Hajj Committee of India, while 30% (around 52,507 slots) will be handled by private Hajj Group Organizers as per India’s Haj Policy 2025.
The agreement focuses on improving the overall experience for pilgrims by enhancing services, expanding facilities, and streamlining logistical arrangements.

Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the Indian government’s dedication to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage for all Hajis. “We are committed to providing the best possible services to our pilgrims,” he said, thanking Saudi authorities for their support.
During his visit, Rijiju met with Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, to discuss interfaith dialogue and global peace initiatives. He also visited the Jeddah Hajj Terminal to review preparations for Hajj 2025, highlighting the importance of meticulous planning for a seamless pilgrimage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the agreement, calling it “wonderful news” for Indian Hajis. In a post on X, he reiterated his government’s commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience for devotees.
