Jog Falls to remain closed for visitors from January to March 2025; Here’s why

Shivamogga: Jog Falls, one of Karnataka’s most popular tourist destinations, will be temporarily closed to the public from January 1, 2025, to March 15, 2025, to facilitate construction and infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing the visitor experience. The announcement was made by the Deputy Commissioner of Shivamogga, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Jog Management Authority.

The closure is necessary to expedite ongoing civil works at the site. Due to the high volume of tourists visiting Jog Falls, the busy nature of the site can interfere with large-scale construction activities. To ensure that the work proceeds smoothly and on schedule, the Jog Management Authority has decided to close the falls to visitors during this period.

The development work will focus on upgrading and expanding the amenities available to tourists. Key projects include:

– Improved Amenities: The construction of rest areas, new signage, and eco-friendly infrastructure to enhance the comfort and convenience of visitors.

The Jog Management Authority has requested the public to plan their visits accordingly and avoid traveling to Jog Falls during the closure period. Tourists can expect a significantly improved experience when the falls reopen on March 15, 2025.

Jog Falls, located in the Western Ghats about 400 kilometers from Bengaluru, is one of India’s highest plunge waterfalls. The falls are particularly spectacular during the monsoon season when the Sharavathi River swells, creating a breathtaking cascade of water down the cliffs. Known for its lush green surroundings, Jog Falls is a favorite spot for nature lovers, photographers, and social media enthusiasts.
