Abu Dhabi: The Konkani Community of Abu Dhabi (KCO) commenced its Pearl Jubilee celebrations with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on February 15, 2025. The special service, held at 5:30 pm, was led by Rev. Fr. Maxim Cardoza, OFM Cap, Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Church, with Rev. Fr. Darick D’Souza, OFM Cap, Secretary to Bishop H.E. Paulo Martinelli, and Rev. Fr. Marian Miranda, OFM Cap, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Cathedral and Spiritual Director of SJKC, Abu Dhabi, concelebrating the mass.

The solemn liturgy was enriched by eloquent readings and the harmonious voices of the St. Joseph’s Cathedral choir, creating a deeply reflective and spiritual atmosphere. Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. Darick D’Souza elaborated on the biblical verse, “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God” (Luke 6:20), emphasizing that true poverty lies in complete dependence on God, leading to the attainment of His kingdom.

The Eucharistic celebration saw an overwhelming participation from the Catholic Konkani community, uniting them in faith and gratitude as they embarked on the milestone year of the Pearl Jubilee. Following the Mass, the congregation gathered for refreshments, fostering fellowship and community bonding among the members of the Abu Dhabi parish.

As KCO enters its 30th year, the organization has lined up a series of events dedicated to benefiting both the Konkani community in Abu Dhabi and their homeland, Mangalore. Under the theme “Preserving Culture. Improving Lives.”, the Pearl Jubilee celebrations aim to uphold Konkani traditions while contributing to the well-being of the community.
