Kuwait: Mogaveers Association Kuwait holds ‘MAK Champions Trophy 2025- S9’

Kuwait: Mogaveers Association Kuwait (MAK), affiliated to the Indian Embassy Kuwait conducted the “MAK Champions Trophy 2025- Season 9” National Level Volleyball & Throwball Tournament on 25th February 2025. The Tournament was held at Aspire Indian International School, Jleeb Al Shuoukh, Kuwait.

Mogaveers Association Kuwait (MAK) is the community welfare association of non- resident Mogaveera’s, based in Kuwait.

The tournament which coincided with the National Day of Kuwait commenced at 8am with the grand opening ceremony headed by Suresh Salian.

On behalf of MAK Management Committee Kavitha Kidiyoor the host for the day welcomed the gathering, which was followed by the Kuwait & Indian National Anthem.

Meanwhile, the medals & trophies of the Tournament were unveiled by Sports Secretary Amruthraj Suvarna, Jaya Kotian along with guests and MAK Management.

Vinitha Nisha D Souza (Nurse) & Pauline Benedicta Mendes ( Nurse) were honoured on the occasion for their humanitarian services towards the society by the MAK management.

Kaizar Shakir, Director and Chief Financial Officer of Dar Gulf Consult for Engineering Consultancy presided as the Chief Guest of the event.

Other guests included, Dr. Surendra Nayak, consultant, Histopathology at Maternity Al Sabha Hospital- Ministry of health.

Tulu film and theatre actor, director, writer, producer, lyricist and singer, Devdas Kapikad (aka Telikeda Bolli) also graced the event, along with Abdul Razak, former President of Tulu Koota.

Raj Bhandary- President BPP Karnataka wing Kuwait, Shankar Shetty President -Tulukoota Amarnath Suvarna President of Billava Sangha Kuwait, Vijay Kairangala Advisor BPP, Harish Shetty Manager Shahi Tandoori, Sowmya Prabhu & Nirmala Machado Managers From Visions Direct Logistics Co. Sushma Manoj Ex-President Billava Sangha, Yadunath Alva former President Bantara Sangha along with his wife Shalini Yadunath Alva, Wilson D’souza Ex-President Tulu Koota, Tharendra Shettigar President of Kannada Koota Kuwait, Preethi Shetty Vice President Kannada Koota, Savinay Vice President BPP, Bharath Shettigar Convenor BPP, Rajesh Hegde Welfare Convenor BPP, Srinath Prabhu Cultural Secretary Tulu Koota, Jagadeeshwar Shanbouge General Secretary Tulu Koota, Madhav Naik – TPI President, were also present on the occasion.

Poonam Mendon, president of MAK speaking after welcoming the gathering, stressed on the importance of playing with true sportsmanship. She also thanked all the teams for their support as the funding raised for the event goes for MAK welfare projects.

Convenor Ramesh Kidiyoor wished all teams and announced the opening of the Tournament.

President of MAK, Management Committee along with the chief guests inaugurated the Volleyball and Throwball court by serving the ball.

Vision Direct Logistics Services Company, Shahi Tandoori Restaurant-Hawally, were the main sponsors of the event.

Alexander Mathew and Abilash Mathew were referees for the Volleyball competition.

Seema Miranda and Dr. T. Ramesh Kumar were the referee for the Throwball event.

Kavitha Kidiyoor , Guna Chethan , Smitha Lakshmish & Dr. Rani Vikyath, were the scorers for Throwball teams.

The announcement was done by Girish Mehta.

The scorers for Volleyball teams were Santhosh Kunder, Rakshith, Chethan, Rajesh. While the announcements were done by Santhosh Kunder and Siraj.

China Metro arranged breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks during the event.

1st Runners-up: Bayan Salmiya
2nd Runners-up: Tamil Tigers
MAK Player of the Tournament: Vibin (Saja Group)
Throwball Tournament:
Winners: Queen Ayansh
1st Runners-up: Alfa
2nd Runners-up: Kuwait Konkans A
MAK Player of the Tournament: Vinita Nisha D’Souza (Queen Ayansh)

The MAK Management members along with guests awarded the trophies & medals to winners, whereas the MAK members gave away the trophies & medals to runners up teams and individual achievers.

In addition, a Raffle Draw was conducted by MAK , whose winners are given below
1st Prize: Deeksha
2nd Prize: Ishani Kunder
3rd Prize: S Dawood Ali

The 10 Consolation prize winners were as follows- Mahadev, Baskar Amin , Calvin D’Souza, Sunish .C. S , Chaturvi , Ishani Kunder, Sunil Kunder , Shithil Hegde, Sudesh .P, Harish.

During the vote of thanks, General Secretary Smitha Lakshmish Kumar thanked each and every one responsible for the success of the tournament, participants, sponsor’s, organizers, MAK Volunteer, MAK Management Committee & Executive Committee.
