Rome, November 30: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader commended the significant contributions of Christian institutions in rural India, urging young individuals to emulate their spirit of service.
Speaking at an event organized by Konkani Kutam Rome and the Kannadigas’
Association Rome at St Peter’s Pontifical College, Khader emphasized the need
for selfless efforts in rural Karnataka.
“Centuries ago, Christians established schools in rural India, uplifting the lives of the common people. May the higher education you pursue at this prominent Christian religious center in Rome inspire you to serve selflessly in the rural areas of Karnataka,” Khader remarked during his address.
The event was part of Khader’s visit to Rome to participate in an international interfaith dialogue program.
Fr Jill D’Souza from the Mangalore diocese highlighted U T Khader’s contributions and achievements during the event. Fr Jovin Sequeira
provided an overview of Konkani Kutam Rome’s activities, while Fr Richard spoke
about the initiatives of the Kannadigas’ Association Rome.
A message of goodwill was delivered by Fr Jose of St Peter’s Pontifical College, who also extended his best wishes. The organizations
jointly felicitated Speaker Khader in recognition of his service. The event
included a prayer service led by Fr Sebastian.
Fr Lawrence Noronha, the event coordinator, welcomed the gathering, and Sr Carmel from the Vatican Communication Department delivered the vote of thanks. Fr Royson Fernandes from Hirgana served as the event’s
master of ceremonies.
The program celebrated the enduring connections between Karnataka’s Christian community and their contributions to education and service, leaving a message of unity and inspiration.
