Riyadh: Abdulaziz Kushalnagar, a long-time Indian expatriate from Kushalnagar in Karnataka, passed away on April 10 at a hospital in the Al-Rabwah area of Riyadh. He was 57.
According to sources close to the family and his friend Irfan Mani, Abdulaziz had been admitted to the hospital on the 14th of Ramadan after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The incident occurred after he attended an Iftar gathering hosted by a friend in Riyadh’s Al-Shifa locality. After breaking his fast and offering Maghrib prayers, he spent time interacting with friends and later proceeded to a nearby mosque for Isha prayers.
Soon after leaving the mosque, he reportedly began to feel uneasy and collapsed. He was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors confirmed that he had slipped into a coma following the heart attack.
Despite intensive medical efforts, he did not regain consciousness and was declared dead on the afternoon of April 10.
Following the completion of legal procedures, including clearance from the Indian Embassy and Saudi authorities, funeral prayers were held later that night after Isha and Janazah prayers at Al-Rajhi Mosque. He was buried at the Naseem Cemetery. A large number of relatives, friends, and well-wishers attended the funeral to pay their last respects.
Abdulaziz had been living in Saudi Arabia for more than 35 years and was employed in a private firm in Riyadh. He was known among the Indian community for his humility, friendly nature, and active participation in social and cultural initiatives. He was closely associated with several community groups, including the Malanadu Gulf Trust (MGT).
He is survived by his wife and four children. His passing has left a deep void among family, friends, and the wider expatriate community. Condolences poured in from various parts of Karnataka and the Gulf region, with many remembering him as a kind-hearted and committed individual who served the community selflessly.
Community organisations such as MGT Malanadu KSA, KNRI, Karavali Welfare Association, KSF Riyadh, KCF Riyadh, and others have extended their condolences and prayed for his soul. They also prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved family, hoping that Almighty Allah grants him the highest rank in Jannah.
